Wesley's Backyard Birds
Western Meadowlark
Western Meadowlarks haven't stopped by my feeders but will land on the wires and poles behind out house. I hear them singing before seeing them.
The Western Meadowlark is a medium-sized blackbird, very similar in appearance to the Eastern Meadowlark. An abundant and familiar bird of open country across the western two-thirds of the continent, the Western Meadowlark is beloved for its melodic song. It is frequently seen singing atop fence posts along roadsides in native grassland and agricultural areas. |
